While the big news out of the Intel Developers Forum may have been about the Widget Channel, Move Networks provided a glimpse of the possibilities for the WiMAX network Intel is participating in with Comcast, Time Warner, Bright House, Clearwire, Sprint and Google.

Move Networks is optimizing its media player for mobile Internet devices (MIDs) based on Intel’s Atom processor Z5 series and Moblin-based software . Consumers using the resulting devices will be able to view Internet-based video – even in high-definition (HD), Move Networks said.

Intel is demonstrating Move Networks’ adaptive Internet television streaming technology for MIDs using Intel Atom processors at the Intel Developer Forum that is wrapping up today in San Francisco.

“Mobile internet devices have the potential to bring a range of Internet-based TV and video entertainment experiences to mobile users on-the-go,” said Pankaj Kedia, director of global ecosystem programs in Intel Corp.’s Ultra Mobility Group. “Intel’s high-performance, low-power Atom processors, along with Move Networks’ Internet television services, should enable mobile users to experience rich, compelling television programming on MIDs wherever they may go.”

Moblin develops Linux-based mobile Internet applications.
