ICTV, Camiant wrap up interactive testing

Camiant and ICTV announced today that they have completed integration testing of a joint offering that was designed to aid cable operators in delivering new interactive services to their subscribers.

The integration between Camiant’s Universal Edge Resource Manager (UERM) and the ICTV ActiveVideo Distribution Network was designed to enable cable operators to more efficiently provide and manage interactive Web media and on-demand television offerings.

The integration also ensured that operators using Camiant’s UERM can also deploy ActiveVideo, while leveraging their existing investment in edgeQAMs with no impact on existing services, according to the two companies.

ActiveVideo, designed for programmers and cable operators, combines Web video, Web 2.0 functionality and traditional television . With ActiveVideo, viewers can navigate an interactive environment of both linear and broadband programming, including interfaces and graphics optimized for TV, remote control navigation, social networking, personal media, niche content, and targeted, actionable advertising.

Camiant's UERM features a control plane intelligence that manages the sharing of edge resources among multiple services, including video-on-demand (VOD), switched digital video (SDV) and TV-based interactivity.
