Harmonic announced today that its Rhozet Carbon Coder video transcoding technology has been deployed by thePlatform.

ThePlatform, a broadband video management and publishing provider and a subsidiary of Comcast, is using Carbon Coder in its new mpsManage Transcoding Service. The mpsManage Transcoding Service is a hosted offering that features two transcoding options that utilize Rhozet Carbon Coder – a shared service for customers using thePlatform’s system who have low to medium volumes and general transcoding requirements, or dedicated servers for customers who have higher volumes or custom transcoding requirements.

Media companies and video sites use thePlatform’s services to manage their media, generate revenue from their content, syndicate media to outlets, and create unique broadband video players. Customers include BBC, CNBC, CBS’ College Sports TV, Comcast, Corus Entertainment, Gannett, Helio, HIT Entertainment, PBS KIDS Sprout, Sony BMG, and Verizon Wireless.
