Grande Communications has hired Waller Capital Corp. to explore its strategic alternatives to enhance shareholder value, according to TheDeal.com.

The San Marcos, Texas-based triple-play provider had nearly 145,000 residential and business subscribers as of the end of Q3 2007.

Grande is in the midst of building a deep-fiber broadband network in the state, for residential and business customers, in parts of Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Midland, Odessa, San Antonio, San Marcos and Waco.

In various markets, Grande Communications competes with Time Warner Cable, CableOne, Suddenlink, Comcast, Charter, DirecTV, AT&T, EchoStar’s Dish Network, and other operators.

The operator was founded in 1999, and in 2002 it merged with ClearSource Inc.
