Google’s AdSense betas video ads
By Brian Santo
CedMagazine.com - February 21, 2008

Google is beta testing YuMe’s InVideo overlay ads as part of its AdSense advertising program.

With AdSense, Web site operators can include Google Search on their sites; search results are displayed along with text-based ads that are supposed to be matched to both the host site and the subject of the search. The deal with YuMe allows Google to offer not only text ads, but also video ads.

Through the Google deal, YuMe publishers who are current AdSense customers will also have the opportunity to accept AdSense for video ad placements. Or, as YuMe puts it in ad-speak: “Targeted, contextually relevant InVideo graphical ads and text overlays help advertisers connect with consumers while providing a positive experience for users and an effective and efficient monetization opportunity for publishers.”

Demos of the various ad formats available on the YuMe video network, including the in-stream overlay text ads, are available here. Among those using AdSense for video are VidShadow, Mondo Media and JoeCartoon.
