Former Cox Communications chief technology officer Chris Bowick has joined itaas' advisory board.

Itaas said Bowick will provide guidance on technology trends and ways to serve the needs of service providers as they transition from a TV-centric RF digital network to a multi-screen, multi-platform environment over an IP network.

"As we complete 12 years of service to this industry, itaas wants a broader set of eyes, ears and minds advising us on new ways to provide innovative technical solutions to meet our customers' challenges," said Vibha Rustagi, chief executive officer and president at itaas. "[Bowick] has lived the day-to-day issues a service provider faces. His experience will be invaluable in our commitment to being a trusted partner to our customers."

Bowick is president of The Bowick Group, where he provides technology, product, business and executive development advice to clients in the cable television and telecommunications industries. Aside of itaas, he currently serves on the board of directors of ViXS Systems and BendBroadband.

"Itaas is wise to continue to bring the customers' perspective into their business planning and technology solutions," Bowick said. "The cable and telecommunications industries continue to have competitive threats. Itaas' understanding of the network architectures; software platforms such as HTML5, iOS and Android; and cable, wireless and IP technology platforms brings unique value to the industry. My goal is to assist the itaas management team in matching their expertise with the customers' needs."

Previously, itaas announced the appointment of Pat Tylka to the advisory board.

Bowick retired from his Cox roles as CTO and senior vice president of engineering in 2009. More recently, he served as Charter Communications’ interim CTO after the departure of former CTO Marwan Fawaz earlier this year.

In July, Charter Communications announced it had hired Cox Communications’ Jay Rolls as its new CTO.

Bowick has also held executive roles with Jones Intercable and Scientific Atlanta. He is a past recipient of the National Cable and Telecommunications Association's (NCTA) highest honor, the Vanguard Award for Science and Technology.
