Charter Communications is being sued by roughly 8,000 former and current employees who said they were not paid for all of the time they worked.

According to the Associated Press, the case involves field technicians who were assigned a company vehicle and who kept the vehicle overnight at their homes after March 15, 2005.

The lawsuit said that Charter did not pay the field techs for tasks such as loading and unloading vehicles, as well as travel time.

Madison, Wis.-based law firms Gingras, Cates & Luebke and Axley Brynelson said that they are seeking unpaid wages and overtime compensation. The lawsuit was first filed in August by Maurice James Sjoblom, who is currently employed in Charter’s Janesville, Wis. office.

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin. A judge recently granted conditional class-action certification in the lawsuit.
