Arris said today that Dutch cable operator Ziggo has placed a large order for its DOCSIS 3.0-certified embedded Multimedia Terminal Adapters (EMTAs).
Ziggo – a major cable operator in the Netherlands that comprises former operators @Home, Casema and Multikabel – will use Arris’ EMTAs to pair faster Internet speeds with carrier-grade VoIP services for its more than 3 million residential and business customers.
“In the highly-competitive Northern European market, we need to offer our subscribers the highest-quality Internet and voice experience possible,” said Ziggo CTO Paul Hendriks, on announcing the agreement . “Arris is at the forefront of technological innovation in DOCSIS headend and CPE equipment, and we feel confident that they will help us offer our customers a compelling and extremely competitive DOCSIS 3.0 solution.”
Ziggo was founded in May of last year, after @Home, Casema and Multikabel were bundled together. Prior to the formation of Ziggo, those three companies jointly acted under the name "Zesko.”
