Cox promotes Rolls to SVP of technology
By Mike Robuck
CedMagazine.com - April 11, 2008

Cox Communications announced that Jay Rolls has been promoted to SVP of technology. Cox has also appointed Alan Greene to executive director of strategy and has promoted Sandy Mencher to VP of financial planning and analysis.

In his new role, Rolls will report to Cox CTO Chris Bowick. He will continue providing strategic direction for enterprise-wide engineering design, development and future technologies across all Cox product lines.

"Jay is an excellent technologist with very strong interpersonal, business and communications skills," Bowick said. "He has proven himself to be an outstanding technology leader through the years as I've intentionally given him increasing levels of responsibility and accountability. Jay has deftly merged three previously 'siloed' organizations into a well-run technology development organization."

Rolls joined Cox in 1995 as the director of multimedia technology. He was promoted to VP of data engineering in 2001, and to VP of telephone and data engineering in 2003.

Most recently he served as VP of technology, where he oversaw technology engineering for all voice, video and Internet products. Prior to joining Cox, he served as VP of network engineering at Excite@Home.

Cox also announced the appointment of Alan Greene to the position of executive director of strategy.

In his new role, Greene will be responsible for facilitating the strategic planning process and conducting strategic assessments in support of Cox's portfolio of products and services. He will also lead the portfolio management process, as well as the program management office for strategic initiatives.

Prior to joining Cox, Greene served in several positions of increasing responsibility for The Coca-Cola Company.

Additionally, Sandy Mencher has been promoted to VP of financial planning and analysis for Cox.

Mencher will continue providing overall direction and leadership for Cox's financial planning and analysis processes for both short-and long-term activities, the company said. He also will continue to lead the advancement of the company's management reporting systems.

Mencher joined Cox in 1995 as a senior financial analyst. He was promoted to director of business planning before transitioning to VP of business operations for Cox's Gulf Coast system. Most recently, he served as executive director of financial planning and analysis.

Prior to joining Cox, Mencher served as a business consultant with NCR Corp.
