Convergys buys software co. from BMI Asia
By Traci Patterson
CedMagazine.com - March 14, 2008

Convergys Corp. has acquired Shanghai Hong Xun Software Co., a privately-held company that creates next-generation business management software solutions for telecom service providers.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Convergys purchased the software company from BMI Asia Inc. BMI’s architecture empowers a single implementation of its software to support tens of millions of accounts and thousands of concurrent users in the entire range of telecom technologies, including wireline, wireless, data (broadband and ADSL), cable and satellite.

Additionally, with BMI’s architecture, next-generation and value-added services – such as VoIP, SMS, video-on-demand (VOD), GPRS and MMS – can be easily introduced.

Convergys said the acquisition will expand the set of customer service management offerings that the company offers its clients. It will also allow the relationship-management company to offer new and existing clients an expanded solution footprint – specifically Web self-care, service provisioning, workflow processing, resource management, workforce scheduling and inventory reservation.

"This small and very strategic acquisition will help Convergys clients effectively serve their customers and will accelerate our product strategy in customer management solutions, specifically providing CRM and self-care capabilities,” said Bob Lento, president of Convergys’ Information Management line of business.
