Comcast announced that it has increased the speed for its Business Class Internet service tiers to 16 Mbps.
The new download speed is available throughout Comcast’s footprint at no additional cost for Business Class Internet customers.
With download speeds of up to 16 Mbps, and upload speeds of up to 2 Mbps, Comcast Business Class gives customers a broadband connection that is more than 10 times faster than standard 1.5 Mbps DSL and the phone companies’ T-1 lines. Small- to medium-size businesses can also increase their download speeds for a short period of time by using Comcast’s PowerBoost feature.
“Comcast is dedicated to and focused on offering a better broadband Internet experience so business customers are equipped with technology solutions that save time, increase productivity and offer more value,” said Bill Stemper, president of Comcast Business Services.
The new speed enhancements came shortly after the launch of the Business Class Bundle, which allows business owners the opportunity to bundle their Comcast high-speed Internet service with digital voice and video services.
Comcast’s Business Class bundle also includes the Microsoft Communications Service suite, which has firewall protection, corporate class e-mail, static IP addresses and other features.
Earlier this month, Comcast rolled out its first DOCSIS 3.0 wideband deployment in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, with speeds of 50 Mbps on the downstream and 5 Mbps on the upstream (story here).
