Charter Communications has launched its Charter High-Speed Internet Max service, with download speeds of up to 16 Mbps, throughout most of the MSO’s Michigan service area.

The new tier uses DOCSIS 2.0 technology and equipment for the increased speed, although Charter is currently testing DOCSIS 3.0 gear in laboratory evaluation trials before starting field trials in selected markets later this year.

Charter Business also offers up to 16 Mbps high-speed Internet service in Michigan, the company said. The operator also offers Charter High-Speed Plus, with download speeds of up to 10 Mbps, and Charter High-Speed Internet, with download speeds of up to 5 Mbps.

In May, Charter deployed its High-Speed Internet Max service in parts of its Missouri and Illinois service areas with download speeds of up to 16 Mbps (story here).

Charter has been rolling out the 16 Mbps service in various systems across its footprint. In April, the new tier was rolled out in Wisconsin following previous deployments in Fort Worth, Highland Park, University Park and the other North Texas cities that the cable company serves (story here).
