Charter’s Internet auction draws a half-million hits
By Mike Robuck
CedMagazine.com - March 25, 2008

Charter Communications recently said that its “high-speed for life” Internet auction has surpassed a half-million visitors.

The marketing campaign allows Charter customers in different areas to register and bid on receiving high-speed Internet connections from the MSO, with the winning bidders locking in the prices for life. The auctions also include free cable modems, wireless routers and installation of the broadband service.

The auctions are aimed at surfers of social networks, blogs and other online communities, with the proceeds being donated by Charter to Habitat for Humanity.

“The participation and awareness generated by this auction has far surpassed our expectations, and we are astounded by the enthusiasm it is attracting,” said Bob Quigley, EVP and CMO of Charter.

Independent research firm comScore ranked Charter’s high-speed Internet speeds to be faster and more reliable than combined Internet offerings provided by national phone companies in areas where Charter provides service.

Bidding on Charter’s high-speed for life Internet auction ends tomorrow.
