Canoe to start with $150M pot; project seeks CEO

Six companies identified as members of the cable industry’s hush-hush addressable advertising program are said to have agreed to a pot of $150 million to fund development.

The usual suspects are identified as members of Project Canoe: ComcastTime Warner CableCablevisionCox CommunicationsCharter Communications and Bright House Networks.

Comcast has already indicated it may kick in what will amount to about 50 percent of the $150 million pot.

The six have been meeting monthly, alternating between New York and Philadelphia, according to The New York Times, which also said the group has hired a recruitment firm to search for a chief executive of the project.
