Cable Days schedules festivities for October
By Brian Santo
CedMagazine.com - July 14, 2008

The Cable Center will host the Denver Chapter of Cable Positive for the organization's signature event, Positively Cable, during The Center's second-annual Cable Days, which will run Oct. 15-17.

This year’s Positively Cable show, a musical satire of the current state of affairs in the cable industry, is being called My Big Fat Greek Digital Dreading. The show is written, produced and staged by volunteers and performed by a chorus line of well-known industry executives, as well as a handful of professionals.

Cable Days begins with the Cable Center Smackdown, a raucous industry trivia challenge between several local cable non-profit organizations, at 11 a.m. on Oct. 15.

The 11th-annual Cable Hall of Fame celebration, honoring the best in the cable industry, follows on Oct. 16.

Cable Days concludes on Oct. 17 with the Key Issues Series - The Structure of the Video Programming Industry: Revolution, Regulatio, or The Return of Yesterday's Battles? Presented in partnership with The Silicon Flatirons Telecommunications Program at the University of Colorado and Communications Technology Professionals, the Key Issues Series brings together executives, students and thought leaders to examine the industry's intertwined policy, business and technological issues.

"We are pleased to include Positively Cable in our Cable Days lineup this year," said Larry Satkowiak, president and chief executive officer of The Cable Center. "Positively Cable is a great fit for the Cable Days mission to educate, appreciate, and celebrate our cable heritage. It's always an evening filled with many laughs, and it is a great addition."

Additionally, The Cable Center will unveil its new permanent Cable Hall of Fame exhibit during Cable Days and will host a number of private meetings and receptions for various cable organizations and contributors.
