Cable Center gearing up for second edition of Cable Days
By Mike Robuck
CedMagazine.com - April 08, 2008

The Cable Center’s second annual Cable Days event will kick off three days of industry events on Oct. 15 at the Cable Center in Denver.

"Cable Days was a great success last year, and we are eager to host guests from around the nation at The Cable Center," said Larry Satkowiak, president and chief executive officer of The Cable Center. "These events offer a tremendous opportunity for attendees to learn more about important issues facing the industry today and celebrate our cable heritage."

Cable Days starts Oct. 15 with the Cable Center Smackdown, which is a trivia challenge between several local cable non-profit organizations. Smackdown team participants will battle against each other in a game show format for a $1,000 cash prize for their respective group, as well as bragging rights to the Cable Center Smackdown trophy.

The 11th annual Cable Hall of Fame celebration, honoring luminaries in the cable industry, follows Oct. 16. The event allows attendees the opportunity to connect with industry colleagues and associates while welcoming the 2008 Cable Hall of Fame Inductees.

Cable Days concludes Oct. 17 with the Key Issues Series - The Structure of the Video Programming Industry: Revolution, Regulation, or The Return of Yesterday's Battles? Featuring a keynote address by Federal Communications Commission Commissioner Michael Copps, the Key Issues Series will address the changing video programming industry by focusing on three distinct sets of themes: the opportunities and challenges of independent networks; the role of access regulation; and the impact of new technologies.

The Cable Center will also unveil its new permanent Cable Hall of Fame exhibit during Cable Days. Cable Days also includes a number of private meetings and receptions at The Cable Center for various cable organizations and contributors.
