CMTS shipments up, DSL down in Q1
By Brian Santo
CedMagazine.com - May 15, 2008

Global CMTS shipments hit a record high in the first quarter, paced by Cisco’s strong shipments to all regions, according to Ovum.

CMTS shipments were up 28 percent from the immediately prior fourth quarter, and up a whopping 54 percent from the first quarter of 2007.

Cisco remained the dominant vendor with 55 percent of rolling Q4 market share, followed by Arris (32 percent) and Motorola (10 percent).

Globally, DSL shipments were down both sequentially (16 percent) and year-over-year (10 percent). The only exception was that the Asia-Pacific market experienced growth compared to Q1 2007, according to Tanya Harris, senior analyst at Ovum.

DSL port shipments were 20.3 million in Q1.  Rolling 4Q market share leaders were Alcatel-Lucent (35 percent), followed by Huawei (23 percent), ZTE (13 percent), Nokia Siemens Networks (6 percent) and Ericsson (6 percent).
