* Verizon expands video in N.Y., Internet in Maine
By Traci Patterson

Verizon will soon offer its FiOS TV service to consumers in Ramapo, N.Y., thanks to a newly approved agreement authorizing the telco to provide its video service in the town. Ramapo joins 98 other New York communities that have approved the FiOS TV service.

And consumers and businesses in the Maine cities of Brownville, Dark Harbor, Franklin, North Sanford, Phippsburg and Sedgwick now have access to Verizon’s high-speed Internet service. Verizon has also expanded its broadband service, based on DSL technology, in Acton, Auburn, Bangor, Belgrade, Brooksville, Brunswick, Dedham, Eddington, Fairfield, Houlton, Kennebunk, Lebanon, St. Agatha, Wayne, Whitefield and Woolwich.

The expanded availability of Verizon’s high-speed Internet is part of the $12 million broadband expansion project – announced in August – that will equip more than 20 Verizon central offices and 70 remote terminals with DSL technology, bringing broadband capability to an estimated 35,000 more company lines in Maine.
