• Tellabs names Saksena CTO

Naperville, Ill.-based Tellabs named Vikram Saksena as its new executive vice president and chief technology officer. Saksena will start his new job on Dec. 8 and will report to Tellabs CEO and President Rob Pullen.
At Tellabs, Saksena will be responsible for technology strategy and business development . He will focus on strategic technology initiatives for Tellabs' focus areas of optical networking, Carrier Ethernet and IP, and mobile backhaul.
Saksena recently served at Sonus Networks as chief technology officer and chief scientist. He has held a series of engineering positions, including positions with Cisco and AT&T.
• IBBS joins Cisco developer program

Integrated BroadBand Services (IBBS) has joined the Cisco Technology Developer Program as part of the program’s Network and Service Management – Broadband Access & IP Services solution category.
In addition, IBBS’s Broadband Explorer (BBX) 4.5 has successfully completed interoperability testing with Cisco’s Broadband Access Center (BAC) for cable.
The Cisco Technology Developer Program unites Cisco with third-party developers of hardware and software to deliver tested interoperable solutions to joint customers.
• Cedar Point supports Grupo Hevi’s voice rollout

Cedar Point Communications is supporting Mexican cable operator Grupo Hevi’s introduction of cable voice services in four new markets.
Grupo Hevi is deploying Cedar Point’s Safari C3 Multimedia Switching System to deliver high-quality, reliable telephone service to subscribers in Aguascalientes, Nuevo Laredo, Puerto Vallarta and Tampico as part of a bundled package of voice, video and high-speed data services.
Cedar Point has shipped more than four million Safari C3 lines to customers in the Americas, the Caribbean and Europe. Safari C3 supports up to 250,000 lines of capacity in less than a cubic yard of space, incorporating all of the components that make up the voice switching infrastructure.
