BlackArrow names chairman of board, CFO
By Traci Patterson
CedMagazine.com - February 25, 2008

BlackArrow, which provides multiplatform ad-management systems for viewer-controlled video, has named Larry Kramer as the chairman of the company’s board of directors. Additionally, Tracy Martin has joined the company as its CFO.

Kramer is the senior advisor at Polaris Venture Partners. From March 2005 to November 2006, he served as the first president of CBS Digital Media, a division he created to integrate the new media operations for the network.

Prior to joining CBS, Kramer was chairman, CEO and founder of MarketWatch (CBS MarketWatch) until its sale to Dow Jones in January 2005. Kramer was also the VP of Data Broadcasting Corp., following its acquisition of his company, DataSport.

And prior to joining BlackArrow, Martin served as the VP of operations and finance at Yahoo. Previously, he was the SVP of operations and CFO at Knight Ridder Digital.

Prior to that, Martin was CFO for Red Herring Communications and corporate controller for NeoMagic Corp. He has also held various senior finance positions at Apple and was a senior auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

BlackArrow is an ad-insertion startup backed by a high-powered trio of cable and electronic investors. In October, the company introduced its multiplatform ad-management system, which it said was the first purpose-built platform for dynamic advertising across broadband, video on-demand (VOD) and digital video recorders (DVRs) (story here).

Later that month at TelcoTV, BlackArrow and RGB Networks demonstrated RGB's Broadcast Network Processor (BNP) and BlackArrow’s ad-insertion system working together in real-time to take national, video-based ads and digitally overlay locally relevant video graphics and text. (story here).
