BT selects Motorola’s V-Boxes for digital TV service
By Traci Patterson
CedMagazine.com - January 07, 2008

Motorola announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that its next-generation set-top boxes (STBs) have been selected by BT for the BT Vision digital TV service.

Motorola will supply BT with second-generation V-Boxes, which boast the potential for improved energy efficiency and enhanced capabilities for deployment in 2009, Motorola said.

The HD-capable V-Box digital TV recorder will provide access to up to 40 Freeview TV channels and 30 radio channels; will offer the ability to record an average of 80 hours of content; will allow on-demand access to a library of films, TV shows, music videos and sports; and will provide a range of interactive applications.

"Today's announcement will lead to the development of a new set-top box to take full advantage of the increasing capabilities of the Microsoft Mediaroom platform and of the most recent advances in chipset technology," said Dan Marks, BT Vision’s CEO.
