Arris 1 GHz multiplexer buys fiber bandwidth
By Brian Santo
CedMagazine.com - April 10, 2008

Arris said that its 1 GHz CHP CORWave 'closely spaced' CWDM downstream optics are now available.

CORWave is an extension of the broadly-deployed, field-proven CHP CWDM optics that deliver more capacity over longer-link distances on existing fiber, thus supporting the delivery of high-definition (HD) switched digital video (SDV), video-on-demand (VOD) and business services on existing MSO fiber networks.

Arris said the technology was recently certified by one of the Top 3 U.S. cable operators (unidentified); that MSO is scheduled to deploy the product this quarter.

When included in the company’s OptiMax4100 4x4 segmentable nodes, CORWave multiplexes 12 wavelengths (four forward, four return and four bidirectional) on a single fiber with a link length of up to 25 kilometers.

In OptiMax segmentable nodes in a 2x2 configuration, CORWave enables longer-link lengths of up to 30 kilometers, Arris said.
