Consumer viewing patterns are changing with the rise of user-generated content (UGC), broadcast programming on the Internet, and video consumption on phones and other portable devices. A key question for cable MSOs moving forward is how to deliver Web content to the TV and TV programs to the PC in order to generate additional revenues and strengthen the competitive service offering.
It is possible to create a single cable service delivery platform that can support an enhanced “any-to-any” experience and incorporate Web content a la YouTube... with better video quality and QoS. This architecture needs to encompass the traditional RF/HFC network, IP-based video over DOCSIS, wireless and other portable devices.
However, in addition to creating an optimized solution from a network architecture perspective, content rights issues need to be addressed, and operators must improve navigation and the user interface for on-demand and UGC.
This 60-minute webcast will feature... Industry experts in a lively discussion of the issues associated with using the cable network to deliver content from any source to multiple devices:
• Content access
• Managing content in the network
• Seamless delivery
• The business aspects and economics of an any-to-any offering
