Allot Communications has upgraded its NetXplorer Centralized Management System, which is the management system for Allot’s Service Gateway, NetEnforcer and Subscriber Management Platform.

The upgrade includes the consolidation of carrier-class capabilities under one management roof and a new focus on facilitating the integration of revenue-generating services. The new NetXplorer allows providers to deploy and manage revenue-generating services for up to 15 million subscribers, Allot said.

The new release also introduces a Linux OS platform for NetXplorer and a variety of open interfaces to facilitate the integration in operator environments, allowing external systems to access the NetXplorer database for accounting, billing and provisioning purposes, the company said.

The enhanced quota management feature enables the provisioning and enforcement of customized service plans based on time and volume usage quotas. The new feature can identify heavy users on a service provider’s network, notifying the provider to upgrade the customer to a higher service plan to avoid network congestion, Cam Cullen, Allot’s director of product management for the Americas, told CED.

And the NetPolicy Provisioner (NPP) allows bandwidth wholesalers and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to offer self-monitoring and self-provisioning capabilities to their VPN and ISP customers.

"Our main goal with this release is to align our offering with service provider needs we are constantly hearing from the field,” said Allot President and CEO Rami Hadar. “The new NetXplorer release grants providers enhanced visibility into the network by presenting useful analytics tools and actionable statistics that help service providers make business decisions.”

The biggest advantage of the new system is the comprehensive reports that can be generated, Cullen told CED. Deep packet inspection (DPI) is only as useful as the information generated from it, and Allot’s reporting engine is easier to use and more detailed than its competitors, Cullen said, meaning that service providers can get more out of their DPI deployments.
