AT&T targeting SMBs
By Brian Santo
CedMagazine.com - April 15, 2008

AT&T is targeting small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) with several new services. The first is new wireless plan aimed at small businesses that allows employees to share anytime minutes with up to 40 people.

The BusinessTalk plan starts at $60 a month for five employees to share 700 anytime minutes. Another tier covers 40 users sharing 20,000 anytime minutes.

The approach should help SMBs reduce overage charges and simplify billing. AT&T estimates that some small companies could save nearly 20 percent on their monthly service charges if they switched from an AT&T standard voice pool plan to BusinessTalk.

The plan will be available to businesses with fewer than 100 employees.

AT&T simultaneously announced new Web hosting and Web site design services specifically for SMBs. The company will help customers launch a new or improve an existing Web site, sell products or services online, build an online community, manage company email, distribute digital content, host a gaming server, or run many other business applications.

Pricing for AT&T Web Design Service ranges from $255 for a simple two-page Web site to $1,595 for a 10-page Web site. A wide variety of add-on capabilities, including e-commerce, flash animation, database development and banner ad management, also are available to customers.

Web hosting service prices vary widely, depending on customer needs.
