Report: Fixed LTE, DOCSIS 3.0 fuel broadband CPE market

Fixed LTE and DOCSIS 3.0 shipments boosted the broadband customer premise equipment (CPE) market in the second quarter of this year. According to a recent report by Infonetics Research, worldwide broadband CPE revenue reached $2.7 billion in second quarter, up 8 percent from the previous quarter and up 29 percent from a year ago


Dish mulls H block auction

Dish Network is petitioning the FCC for waiver of certain technical rules governing a terrestrial deployment on its 20 MHz of AWS-4 spectrum as well as a one-year extension for that deployment. Dish said the waiver and extra time will give it the opportunity to determine if it will use its spectrum (2000-2020 MHz) for downlink or for uplink. 


Google's 'Hummingbird' hatches new search formula

Google has quietly retooled the closely guarded formula running its Internet search engine to give better answers to the increasingly complex questions posed by Web surfers. The overhaul came as part of an update called "Hummingbird" that Google Inc. has gradually rolled out in the past month without disclosing the modifications.


BlackBerry posts loss, steep revenue drop for 2Q

Customer satisfaction data study: Verizon tops in three regions

Verizon scored the highest marks for customer satisfaction in the East, West and South Regions in the latest J.D. Power customer satisfaction data study while Wide Open West (WOW) took top honors in the North Central Region. The J.D. Power 2013 U.S. Residential Internet Service Provider Satisfaction study also found that customers who upgraded their data tiers to faster premium tiers were satisfied with the results.

South Dakota Dish customers losing Fox TV

Dish viewers in eastern South Dakota were to lose Fox TV shows on the satellite provider Wednesday unless it resolves a contract dispute with the local network affiliate. The spat won't affect off-air customers of KTTW-TV in Sioux Falls and those who receive Fox through another provider. 


Comcast, TWC deflate consolidation hopes

AT&T puts finishing touch on 45 Mbps rollout

On Sunday AT&T will wrap up the deployment of its 45 Mbps down, 6 Mbps up data service with launches in five more states. AT&T’s U-verse High Speed Internet Power is slated to roll out to residential and business customers in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.
