The Justice Department says its top antitrust official, Bill Baer, is recusing himself from the department's review of Comcast's $45 billion purchase of Time Warner Cable Inc. Spokeswoman Gina Talamona says that Baer, an assistant attorney general, was not heading the review due to some work he did while in private practice.
A U.S. judge on Thursday denied Apple's request to permanently ban Samsung from selling 23 older-model smartphones and tablets that a jury found infringed on patents held by the maker of iPhones and iPads. Cablevision announced this morning that it would add beIN Sports and beIN Sports en Español to its channel lineup. In order to prime the pump, Cablevision will serve up a free preview of both channels to all of its subscribers March 20-23.
