JDSU releases MR-ODM test module
By Brian Santo
CedMagazine.com - May 12, 2009

JDSU has introduced another module for its test units, this one for evaluating the performance of optical fiber links in DWDM networks.

The Medium Range Optical Dispersion Measurement (MR-ODM) module for JDSU’s T-BERD/MTS-6000 and -8000 platforms includes a patented solution for chromatic dispersion (CD) measurements and offers polarization mode dispersion (PMD) and attenuation profile test functions.

CD, PMD and attenuation tests are key in installation and maintenance, helping to identify fiber viability for very high-speed transmission systems (e.g., 10 Gigabit Ethernet, 40Gbps and higher), including high-speed DWDM networks, including those with reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexers (ROADMs).

JDSU claims the MR-ODM module is the industry's only CD, PMD and AP analyzer with measurement points across the SCL-bands (1450-1640nm).
